How do you homeschool with a 3 year old?

This is a question I get asked a lot.

In this slide show much of what our 3 year old daughter does during a homeschool day is captured. She shadows. She audits. She annoys. She entertains. She learns and loves.

This is a composite of a "day" in the life.

  2. My son goes to public school but I would like to homeschool him for his communion. Is that possible? The church by us has had alot of problems and the next nearest one has had a long waiting list for 2 years now.

  3. Hi Cheryl, thanks for visiting and God bless your son as he approaches this incredible Sacrament! And what a day to be writing about it, on the day the Eucharist was instituted!

Mary Kay CLark in her book Catholic Homeschooling cites many church documents that support your right to prepare your child, that the Churches role is to assess readiness. You may also want to visit www.keepingitcatholic.org and http://www.catholic.net/RCC/Periodicals/Faith/0506-96/article2.html

Some have encountered roadblocks with their pastors who insist on enrolling children in CCD, but canon law is on your side. It is your prayerful choice to decide if in humility you bow in obedience to a Pastor who insists because you may have a desire to stay within that parish. Perhaps you could go to another parish, if you want to retain the parental responsibilities bestowed upon you in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony?

Have your citations, the canon law codes and papal encyclicals, that are mentioned in books and links above. They can do the "arguing" for you as they are the Magisterial teaching of the Church and the Pastor is to be obedient to them.

If a Pastor requires an assesment, that's fine and good. You can and should be present and the questions should be ones that a child in his CCD class would also pass.

Thank you for preparing another soldier for Christ. The church needs him!
