Giveaway - Quilts, like God's handiwork
Dear Readers - Do you like quilts? I do!
In them, I see an analogy to the work of God. When we look at a quilt up close we sometimes see pieces that look or feel discordant. Why is this piece alongside this piece? What does it all mean?
And then, we step away...
A sharp breath in and we see the pattern. We see how it all "fits" together. We see beauty and intricate toil. We see comfort and legacy.
Life is like that.
God sews and connects our experiences together like a patchwork quilt and only when we "remove ourselves" do we see His handiwork, His perfect plan and will.
While we're on the journey of life we can mark the days. Some days God brings us to birthdays, some days to deaths. First teeth are lost and First Holy Communions are made! A book of days can show us our timelines and connect the past to the present.
Perhaps the Grandfather you never met had his birthday on your baptism day? Coincidence or God-incidence?
If you'd like this BOOK OF DAYS celebrating pictures of beautiful quilts, leave me a comment and I will pick a name on Monday, January 26th and post a winner.
You too, then, can create your own legacy notes and create strong family ties!

ReplyDeleteI like what you wrote about quilts, too.
What a great book! Very nice. God bless.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty book...and perfectly suited to my compulsion to organize information!
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful! I would love to win this!
ReplyDeleteOOoooo, pretty. Our home is filled with quilts my Grandma made. Most of them are scrap quilts, some even have pieces of my Great-Grandma's clothes.
ReplyDeleteHow generous of you!
I would love to be entered in your contest. Thanks for this beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. I still snuggle under the quilt my grandmother made for me.
ReplyDeletePlease count me in!
count me in, please, the days in my daybook are numbered=)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful insight. I've tried to explain this thought of seeing the whole picture... but this quilt concept describes it perfectly. I have a feeling I'll be using this example often. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWhat you wrote really touched me and brought back a talk I gave at Mops about three years ago. It was about "How can you have peace in your life when everyone wants a piece of you?" The ladies than cut pieces of cloth and wrote ways they felt pieces of themselves were being given to others and than glued the fabric over what was written. When they were done, they all had beautiful cardboard quilts to hang wherever and remind them that we don't always understand the pieces we need to give or are giving, but in the end, we are truly works of art in God's eyes! God, being the master designer, knows exactly what kind of quilt we are being made into and we don't always realize this until we take a step back and look at our lives!

I'd love to be entered too! How neat!
ReplyDeleteI love giveaways and could actually use a nice book of days for myself. I tried going digital, but my PDA has decided to call it quits.
ReplyDeleteBoth my MIL and mother have quilted in the past. MIL made a large one for our king-sized bed, but we've never used it there. Instead, it has spent more time on the couch so we can all wrap up in it to stay warm. Which reminds me that I didn't pull it out yet this winter...
